The games are over and the verdict is in. The Giants and the Rangers will meet on th e field of honor. Or several of them. The Ranges and Giants will be facing-off in this year’s world series and the fans couldn’t be happier.

Neither could the teams.

This will be the 18th time for the Giants to play the World Series, but only the 4th since they moved to San Francisco in 1958. But just playing in the Series doesn’t mean anything. They haven’t one a World Series since 1954. Perhaps this time will be different.

“Their pitching is good,” Cruz said. “All those National League teams have good defense and good pitching.” And it is. This year they led the National League with a 3.36 team ERA during the regular season and a 2.47 ERA in the playoffs. Whether their pitching is enough to stand up to the Ranger’s is another matter.

The Rangers are no slouches when it comes to pitching, with a 2.76 ERA in all 11 games and several team members who seem destined for greatness.

But pitching isn’t the only part of the game, and while both teams have excellent pitchers, it’s the batting that matters. It remains to be seen whether either team is able to hit it out of the park, or if the series will end in a dismal tie.
